Hi everyone
I am freezing we have been without hot water or central heating since last friday, The boiler is 1 year old and is a good make.
It would seem it needed a spare part which as usual had to ordered, the guy is supposed to be coming this morning between 8 and 12 so is cutting it fine.
He had better come because we have had enough you can all imagine what it has done to my hands etc.
My son has enjoyed not having a bath but he is 10 and even he is looking forward to it this evening.
We have been boiling kettles and using a bowl in the living room, the only place where we have got an electric heater.
He had better turn up!!
Love Melanie

Hi Melanie

I laughed out loud at your son enjoying not having to have a bath. I remember my younger brother being the same when he was 10 - he would do anything to get out of having to get clean! We've had our central heating on constant for the last 3 or 4 weeks due to me being inside all of the time and there seemed no point having it come on a timer and then go off again numerous times in the day. I dread to think what our heating bill will be like when it arrives. Although someone once did tell me it's more economical to have your heating on constantly to keep the house at a constant temperature than having it on only when you're in. I hope you get yours sorted soon, it must be no fun in this weather.

Really hope that he came and fixed it for you and you are all nice and warm now. It's been so cold, we've had our heating on nearly all the time, like Gemma I am dreading my gas bills. How the people manage who can't afford big bills and don't put the heating I don't know. Must be a nightmare for them. We keep getting told that the price of gas is going up, the government should do something to stop it, but every time it goes up, the revenue from the VAT on the bill increases for them, bet they are really pleased, same with petrol and diesel (sorry I am on my soap box here).

Gemma: My daughter tried the keeping the heating on all the time a year or so ago. She watched her metre for a week with the heating going off and on and then left it on for a week then compared the usage. Alot more gas used when it was constantly on. May of been because the temperature could of dropped the second week (heating runs on a thermostat so it would of used more gas), don't know really, all I know is she won't be trying it again.

Hi your welcome to come and share my warm house. Took the mega decision and had double glazing, new doors, more insulation in the loft and thermostatic rad valves done a couple of months back. Being on my own and a pensioner, it was a lot of money to shell out. Anyway glad I did as the difference to the house is fantastic.
Hope your man has been by now and your nice and warm again. Kathleen.
